History

The Great Plains Government Finance Officers Association was incorporated in the fall of 2009 in response to a perceived need for a state/local chapter of the GFOA for government finance professionals in Nebraska and Iowa.

The GP GFOA sent out its first newsletter in the third quarter of 2009, and has recruited 89 members as of mid-May, 2010. In April of 2010, the GP GFOA held its first educational conference, which was attended by 56 finance professionals from state and local governments, school and special districts, universities and health care institutions.
